This position is a LES (Locally Engaged Staff) position, subject to the Terms and Conditions of Employment for LES in Kazakhstan. This process will be used to create a list of eligible candidates for similar positions either term or indeterminate.

Summary of position:
Provides executive administrative support services to the Ambassador. Provides general support services to the entire Embassy as required. Duties include: maintaining the Ambassador's schedule, calendar, contacts database; liaising with high level contacts' offices in government, private sector, and civil society; preparing the ambassador's visits outside of capital/country, including scheduling meetings, logistical arrangements, and coordination of briefing material; organizing high level meetings and coordinating events; conducting research, drafting official correspondence including letters and diplomatic notes in English, Russian and/or Kazakh language; tracking and reporting on budget; processing invoices and preparing claims for payment; data entry; maintaining a robust and effective network of contacts in senior officials offices; performing other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.


• University degree from a recognized university or a college diploma


• Fluent English (spoken, written, comprehension)
• Fluent Kazakh (spoken, written, comprehension)
• Fluent Russian (spoken, written, comprehension)


• Experience in an administrative role prioritizing a varying workload of executive support tasks such as organizing visits, correspondence triage, written products, scheduling of meetings, and completing reports
• Experience in a role involving liaison/communication with government and/or corporate organizations and/or members of the public

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.


• Knowledge of standard office suite software applications (Microsoft applications, Excel, Word, Outlook) and internet research strategies
• Knowledge of executive office support practices, financial tracking and standard office procedures and practices
• Knowledge of local political and government, business and civil society landscape in Kazakhstan

• Ability to maintain and leverage an effective network of contacts
• Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Knowledge of French language
• Previous experience working in a Canadian diplomatic mission
• Previous experience of direct support for an Ambassador, CEO or Minister or senior executive/official, Experience working under pressure with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines
• Experience in event planning and implementation

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Working hours 37.5 hours per week, 5 days a week
• Occasional overtime outside of working hours may be required
• Occasional travel (domestic and international) may be required

Condition(s) of Employment:

• The successful candidate must be legally entitled to work in the Republic of Kazakhstan
• The successful candidate must adhere to the terms and conditions of employment as set forth in the locally engaged staff handbook.
• The successful candidate must disclose to the Embassy if they hold Canadian citizenship before being employed at the Embassy or if they obtain Canadian citizenship at any time during their employment with the Embassy.
