Summary of position:
Reporting to the Advisor (Management) and Consul and under the functional supervision of the Receptionist and Administrative Assistant, the incumbent provides transport, delivery and shopping services for all mission programs. He/she ensures the proper maintenance of vehicles, provides the mission with basic services related to administration, maintenance and support, in accordance with policies, guidelines and procedures in force. The incumbent is called upon, in his/her functions of messenger, to liaise between the administrative services of the Embassy and the employees of the various public services and administrations (foreign affairs; customs; airports; mining services; STEG; SONEDE; Tunisie Telecom etc.)

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• High school or technical diploma or any equivalent combination of relevant education, training and work experience.

Languages:
• Good* knowledge of French (oral);
• Proficiency in Tunisian Arabic (oral);
• Good* knowledge of French (written);
• Good* knowledge of Arabic (written).

*Good being defined as being able to meet daily social demands, being able to confidently handle basic social interactions including basic presentations and conversations about daily events, work, as well as family, and being able to handle responsibilities limited workload, but help is needed to manage complications and difficulties.

Experience:
• At least two (2) years of recent professional experience * as a driver;
• Professional Experience in driving vehicles with manual and automatic transmission.

*Recent being defined as within the last 5 years.

Rated Requirements

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of local driving regulations (Highway Code);
• Knowledge of the greater Tunis region (Tunis centre, North suburbs);
• Basic knowledge of auto mechanics in order to be able to carry out small repairs (change tyre, charge car battery, etc.) and follow up with garages.

Abilities/Competencies:
• Ability to orient yourself, use a GPS and read a road map;
• Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines;
• Ability to use a smartphone and write simple emails;
• Ability to communicate effectively with Tunisian authorities and liaise between the Embassy of Canada and officials (customs, airport, traffic officer, public services, etc.);
• Ability to lift and transport loads (luggage parcels etc.)
• Teamwork and collaboration;
• Courtesy and keen sense of customer service;
• Judgment and discretion;
• Professional integrity;
• Autonomy and initiative.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.
• Good * knowledge of English (oral);
• Driver's experience in a diplomatic mission or an international organization;
• Driver experience with expatriate staff of a diplomatic mission or an international organization;
• Experience in driving armoured vehicles.

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
Willingness and ability to work occasionally outside normal working hours and / or weekends and to travel outside of town and to neighboring countries;
• The incumbent may be required to complete training in driving armoured vehicles to ensure the movement of authorized mission personnel to high-risk locations;
• Work schedule: 44 hours per week.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• The successful candidate must be eligible to work and live in Tunisia;
• Hold a valid passport;
• Hold a valid driver\'s license (Category B);
• Candidates must have a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period. If the employment is indeterminate, the work authorization should be permanent or itself lead to a permanent work authorization;
• Before an offer of employment can be made, candidates must provide a local address as proof of residence in the specific city, region or country so that if selected, it will appear on the offer letter;
• Obtain and maintain a reliability rating (security clearance) from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
