This position is a LES (Locally Engaged Staff) specified term position with 12 months’ duration (approx. 01 April 2021 – 31 March 2022), subject to the Terms and Conditions of Employment for LES in the High Commission of Canada in Singapore.

Summary of position:
Under general supervision, provides multi-task support services to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC’s) programs and operations. Exercises initiative in seeking out information to complete files or tasks. Requires a general knowledge of established guidelines. Responds to service requests from clientele and performs other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• Completion of secondary school.

Language:
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing and speaking)


Experience:
• Recent* experience in client service and/or dealing with the general public.
• Recent* experience working in a general office environment.
• Recent* experience working on a PC in a network environment, including experience using mail, word processing and spreadsheet applications.

* “recent” is defined as within 3 years

Rated Requirements:

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• Computer applications; including Microsoft Office (Word, excel, Outlook and internet browser).
• Extensive knowledge of Canada.

• Provide advice to clients and maintain a high level of customer service.
• Multi-task and manage time effectively while maintaining attention to detail and quality work.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.
• Proficiency in French (reading, writing and speaking). Please indicate your level of knowledge of the language in your application.

Operational Requirements:
• Hours of work: Mondays-Thursday: 08:00 to 16:30;
• Fridays: 08:00 to 13:30;
• Must be able and willing to work overtime, as operationally required;
• Please note the High Commission operates a schedule of public holidays according to a combination of Singaporean and Canadian dates, which means you will be required to work on certain Singaporean holidays.

The successful candidate must:
• Be able to work legally in Singapore at the time of application. Please note that the High Commission of Canada in Singapore does not sponsor any Employment Pass applications to the Ministry of Manpower.
• Have a valid “Reliability Status”. A local security check is required prior to appointment as well as a medical examination. The required level of security clearance must be maintained throughout the employment period.

Other Information:

• Please note that the Government of Canada does not reimburse any travel costs to and from interview nor does it reimburse any relocation costs.

• Benefit package includes:
a. Paid overtime;
b. Eighteen (18) days of paid vacation leave per year for fewer than 10 years of service and Twenty-Two (22) days of paid vacation leave per year for 10 or more years of service;
c. Bonus is one and a half month of base salary (prorated) payable in December;
d. Contributions to Central Provident Fund Board; and,
e. Insurance coverage for clinical, specialist, hospitalisation, dental and term life
